Travel update: 🇹🇼 Taiwan Taiwanese borders remain closed to tourism. Beginning January 1, 2021 entry restrictions for foreign nationals have been tightened. Currently, foreign nationals without a residency permit are not allowed to enter Taiwan unless they obtain special permission (mainly for emergency or humanitarian reasons). Tourism is not accepted as a purpose of visit. The exact date when Taiwan will allow tourists to visit the country remains unknown. According to travel industry experts, the quick spread of the Covid Delta variant, shortage of vaccines, and low numbers of vaccinated citizens will be the reasons for Taiwan to be among the last destinations in Asia to welcome foreign travelers again.
