🗞️ Weekly roundup( 1 ) Indonesia aims to reopen its borders to foreigners in November - once 70% of the population gets at least one vaccine shot. Budget travelers are not welcome though - Bali plans to forbid backpackers from entering the island. ( 2 ) Indonesia is not yet open for tourism, but the general travel ban has been lifted on Tuesday. Any foreign nationals can apply for a single-entry visa B211A that allows staying in the country for 2 months and can be extended 4 times with 30-days extensions. ( 3 ) Australia's international travel ban could be lifted in November. Initially, only travel to and from low-risk countries like New Zealand, the USA, and Singapore will be allowed. ( 4 ) Fiji will be open to travel by the end of the year. ( 5 ) Vietnam is planning to allow some destinations to welcome back fully-vaccinated foreign visitors. Phu Quoc Island in the south will be the first, with a trial vaccine passport program. ( 6 ) Malaysia: Leading up to the opening of Langkawi island, Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MHholidays offer low airfares and travel packages. Book until Sept 30, travel until Oct 31, 2021. ( 7 ) USA: Don’t get charged a fee for changing your travel plans: 10 airlines with flexible booking policies. ( 8 ) Kids on planes: Plenty of people would rather not sit near children on a long flight. Japan Airlines has a solution. ( 9 ) New normal: Just as 9/11 changed travel forever, so has COVID. The new normal in travel means adapting to an ever-growing set of new policies and procedures. ( 10 ) Airports: In the face of lockdowns and travel restrictions, airports become a “zombie region” - crowded with empty, idle, parked airplanes. |

New Zealand and Australia are reportedly in talks about the possible expansion of their existing Trans-Tasman travel bubble to include some parts of the Pacific Islands. At the moment New Caledonia, Tahiti, Fiji, and Tonga are considered. |
