🗞️ Weekly roundup( 1 ) Bali may reopen in October, but only for tourists from low-risk countries such as South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and New Zealand. Unfortunately, a quarantine will still be required. ( 2 ) Indonesia: New rules for obtaining a visa (no, tourist visas are not available yet). ( 3 ) Garuda Indonesia: The national carrier is experiencing a rapid descent. Some of its funds have been confiscated as international courts have ruled against the airline. ( 4 ) Singapore will accept tourists and transits from Indonesia, starting 22 September. Multiple PCR tests and a 14-day quarantine will still apply. ( 5 ) Vietnam: Western tourists are keen to return, but mandatory quarantine can be a deal-breaker. ( 6 ) More travel bans coming? Scientists have some bad news: brace for more of what we've already been through. ( 7 ) Thailand's tentative moves to reopen its borders continue. In October, vaccinated foreign travelers will be allowed to visit 5 more destinations: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Chonburi. Travel update: Papua New GuineaPapua New Guinea (PNG) is not open for tourism yet. Only fully vaccinated travelers that have permission from local authorities can enter PNG. There are no further restrictions for eligible vaccinated visitors to travel domestically within PNG. The reopening date for Papua New Guinea borders remains unknown, but it will be no earlier than Q1 2022. Check the recent update on international flights to PNG. |
